Post Problem, TPS Causes engine to cut out at low RPMs, SC300

Hello,

I've got a strange problem on my '92 SC300 - 5 Speed. The engine will cut out at low RPMs (under 2500) while driving. It does it at a steady speed(like at just the right RPM there is a dead spot) or when you let off the gas with the clutch fully engaged and slowly ease back into it(passing through the bad spot in the RPM band). The entire car jerks because the engine cuts out, and the RPMs fall and come back up. The car never dies though or stalls, RPMs at warm idle are a nice steady smooth 1000.

I did cure the problem by maxing out the TPS (all the way counter clockwise)and the problem does go away, but with TPS set dead center it still cuts out. I replaced the TPS, with a new one from Autozone and still had the same problem, I also replaced the MAF with a used one and still same problem.

Any ideas on how to fix this or what it could be. I was thinking replacing the igniter.

Also what is the normal warm idle RPM, for a 2JZ-GE?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

The ecu for the older models has started to become a problem area with these cars. See if you can do a temporary ecu swap and see if the problem goes away. Replacing or repairing the ecu has solved a lot of problems lately. Also, I believe idle speed with a warm engine is around 750 rpms with no accessories running, so 1,000 rpms may not be bad.

Check your throttle drive line, see if it is tight. (It's under the throttle body cover above the TPS.
