Cool lightweight battery

Im pretty sure my battery is going bad, going to loadtest it tommorow afternoon. If its bad I hear a lot of people talk about switching to a lightweight battery to lose frontend weight, want to know what is the lightest, still with enough amps to run the system and not shorten alt. life.

OK so the battery was ran down, but no dead cells or shorted plates. Charged the battery and checked the system for a drain, and there was one. Opened the trunk and the c.d. changer was buzzing and whirring, so I pushed the eject button and it stopped, and the drain was gone. Wanting to know if anyone knows whats going on with the c.d. changer. Also the radio power button was off, but when I turned it on it said c.d. err.

My battery is by no means in perfect shape. Thread piqued my interest a bit.

What size battery would do the job? What kind of current and power is the stock set-up running? What would be required from another battery?

If you want to lose front-end weight, why not just relocate the battery to the trunk. Also, the added weight in the back will give you a little better traction (nothing noticeable i bet though).

Thats an idea, but with the increased battery cable diameter the weight would be more, and traction is really not the prob.

that non-carbon, 11lb battery for $179 from Braille seems like a pretty sick deal. 11lbs is really light, and 900+ cranking amps is huge. Being in an Ariel Atom makes it that much cooler.

Obviously you would need to creatively throw together a lightweight mount, but would you need new battery terminals with this type of battery?

(hilarious that they spell out dots in actual braille...should have had a seeing-eye walking stick spelling braille auto in the beach)
