Cheap generic flowmasters advice please...
I went to an alignment and exhaust shop today and asked them what they had for my sc400. They sell generic flowmasters exhaust for cheap. They quoted me $180. I dont think thats that good, is it... also, i have to buy my own chrome tips. they say they wont put um on anymore cuz when they did ppl would come back *****in they rusted after like 3 months. seemed like a cool shop, it was wierd cuz it was just discussed the other day and they had an 850 on the lift.he said the engine was broken and it was 18 grand for one of those v12's lol...so anyways, would you reccomend doing this or going for the 220 dollar magnaflow 14829's?
is this going to be really loud and obnoxious? i want something that idles semi quiet, and sounds nice but not annoying when you rev it...
will this be a good upgrade?

My chrome tips were $30 each, you get what you pay for... As for the mufflers- flowmaster makes a bunch of different models. Check out summitracing and shop around for prices- then find out which ones they were gonna sell you and see if its a fair price. IMO $180 isnt bad for the mufflers, and the work cutting off the old ones and welding on new ones, thats if they do a very good job.

Never heard flowmasters on an import. I have the 40 series on my lightning and I have heard people say that they sound like a jet at WOT. Personally the best 330 I have spent on a catback. I had a magnaflow on my previous f150 and after the exhaust was "broken in" it started to sound raspy as hell. Search for clips on youtube or streetfire and listen before you buy. From what i've heard, mags sound great on an sc.

Ok, he said he didnt have time to run upstairs and check the box for the number but he remembers they say they have a deep, mellow tone... also, he said he installed them on a girls gs400 and they sounded good. real quiet at idle, and then a nice tone from take off.. he said he could put metal tips on for free and then later if i get chrome i could bring them to him and he'd put um on for real cheap(still would have to lift and weld, like 10 bucks.)
what do u think

Got it today, i love it. it ended up being $180.... its sounds incredible right now, but they said in two weeks it will be louder. right now it has this deep, low sound, very quiet. silent after startup, then when u get on it, it sounds incredible...im gonna post some pics and vids in the main section in a week or so on how it sounds broken in
