Default Exhaust Manifold Question

I have a 92 SC300 and my exhaust manifold bolts always come loose, I've tried LOCKTITE, and I was wondering if anybody else has the same problem.

The bolts that go into the head come loose and the nuts that tighten the header also come loose. Should I buy new nuts and bolts, or WTF?

I would greatly appreciate everyones input, it drives me crazy that I have to retighten everything every 6-8 weeks.

use a high grade lock washer or just get a new set that have built in lock washers and/or nuts

No, I have a stock 2JZ-GE. I've been thinking that maybe my head has been stripped and I need to rethread it. If I do so, would I need larger bolts? Has anybody done this in the past or had the same problem?

I have an extra motor and I've also consider rebuilding the other motor and just dropping it in, but it seems a little too much just to fix an exhaust header problem! Or maybe I could just rebuild the head and swap them! I don't know!

Everyones input would really be appreciated!

Thnak you

Default exhaust studs

If you feel the bolts are too loose in the head, you could always install helicoils... any auto parts store sells a helicoil kit with correct size drill, helicoils and tool for little $. However, seems to me that if you can torque the bolt down in the head without it stripping, then there is not a thread problem. Honda makes a great concoction in a tube called "Hondabond"... put some of that stuff on the threads and I can virtually guarantee you they won't come loose.

Thank you everyone that offered suggestions and I wanted to let everyone know what the problem is, my head is stripped and the bolts keep sliding out. So tomorrow, I will be attempting to fix the problem with HELICOILS (thank you philauldridge) and I will post a thread on it.

Once again thanks for all your suggestions and help!
