Hey guys Im getting a code 17, CMP No. 1....is that a circuit malfunction, what does CMP stand for? Also any possible solutions? BTW car is a 94 SC 300

you have an OBDII ECU

CMP stands for Cam Shaft Position Sensor, there are 2, so No 1 is for No. 1, so prolly it loose or bad wiring somewhere causing a short circuit.

They are not hard to find.

first off, it's not an OBD2 ECU, if so, the code would be PXXX where X's are numbers if it were, OBD2 was officially supported in 96, as with all other makes and models of vehicles...

secondly, you might want to do some diagnostic work and see if it's truly the sensor itself before you actually replace it - it could also be wiring... just to possibly save some money...

Can anyone help pinpoint the exact location of the Camshaft position sensor, maybe a diagram?

I believe on supra forums you can download the 95 TSRM which has the diagrams for both the 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE, that will help you out alot.

And like Mitsuguy said most likely its not the sensor, and a wiring issue. If you download the manual you can actually test the resistance between both terminals on the sensor and it can give you a fair idea if the sensors are bad or good. The manuals will be alot of help
