Engine serial number

Where'd this engine come from and when was it made? 1UZ0271919. I found the number under and to the right of the radiator's return hose. It doesn't appear to come from a sc400 (see production tables: http://www.lexusclub.co.uk/productiontables.htm).

My vin ends with: 0015011. The timing belt change sticker indicates it was changed at ~60k in June of '94! The belt appears decent. I thought I saw printing (Mitsubishi?) on it, now I can't see any. It has no frays, cracks or groves missing and tension seems proper. The cluster displays 102k. I guess the engine was replaced with a new one and the cluster was replaced with a used one.

Also, where did the cluster came from and when it was made? I'm trying to figure out as much as I can. Any comments welcome.

Sounds like you got a mess over there.

The first part of the engine number is a Lexus V8...maybe not your SC400 but it is the motor that needs to be in there...it could have been pulled from a LS400...never know?

also your gauges may have been replaced....

Yup, I got a totally clean title from NJ that indicates original miles. I have suspension and maybe frame problems. I hope its worth fixing. I never got a carfax for it, as I didn't think I would have the highest ebay bid.

You can get all the serv. records from Lexus...well all the records for the VIN under the windshield anyway

Carfax will only tell you whats been reported...if the person payed cash..then your SOL

Not me. I called my local Lexus dealer and 1-800-255-3987. I guess I should try again?

I couldn't find any production tables for the LS400. I called the 1-800 number again and found out when and where it was serviced but not what was done.

'92-94 Ray Catena Lexus, Larchmount NY
2000 TriCounty Lexus, Littlefalls, NJ (NY?)
I'll see if they kept the records.

Maybe there is some way to figure out the VIN for my engine?

I'm sure somewhere in Toyota-land there is a build record of your car...but you'll get a PS3 before you get that. :D
