Default just need help..

hi,
pretty new here to the forums but im quite stuck on my decision
i am so torn between which engine to put into my sc 1j or 2j.. so i bought both and needa decide which one! keep in mind this is an auto to r154 swap regardless just cant decide between the 2j monster or the high revving (and supposedly funner?) 1jz which my freinds say is less of a headache and more rewarding... goal is pretty modest imo...
near 500 hp..
im lookin for opinions and how easy/hard to tune either engine...
money/power ratio... which has more bang for your buck etc...
thanks

Since money is an issue, 1jz should be the answer. But not sure on which is easier to tune, becuase that should be up to the what EMU you are using.

2jz looks better in the engine bay

I am a 400 owner, but I know your very question has been highly debated for a number of years, you may have to be patient for the guy with the good advice to log on. Take a look at some of the other related threads on this section.

clutch compatibility is transmission related. so a 2jz clutch wont work on an r154 and vise versa. for the 154 you need the mk3 clutch reguardless. As for tuning thats all about if you know how to tune and what you are using, piggy-back vs. standalone and if you have tuned a standalone before. the 1j will be easier to swap in IMO

i'm going through the same dilemma not that i have both engines just trying to figure which one i want more. Leaning towards 1jz, i'll tell you what pick one then sell me the other one.

i had the same choice to make, researched for almost 2 years on this descision and realized the 1jz was for me, i think if your goals are less than 650hp then either will do fine, and if money is a concern the 1jz wins. reliability, another tie. rarity, pretty close these days i think but 1jz leaves you with the 1.5jz option which will put it on top here. dont remeber on the 2jz anymore but i have everything oem working, everything. In short i am a completely satisfied 1jz owner, but its all preference
