Cost of 1JZ..trouble finding good info
Looking to do a 1J swap in the near future and have some questions. How much do these swaps usually go for. I have found tons of info on the swap itself and thats great, but how much are the motors going for. When i did my SR 240 swap it seemed that it was common knowledge on how much the clip-swap would cost ($2000-2500 range). I know the 1J isnt as common as a SR20.
can anyone direct me to a reliable trustworthy place or website?
and what are you guys paying.. and what are you all getting for that price?
Thanks

Jarco is a good distributor. Motor,Tranny(Auto),ECU and Harness should run about $1200 give or take. By the time you add in the maintainance stuff water pump, belts, seals etc and upgrade stuff fmic, bov etc I would say it's another $1000. So that puts you around $2200. Soarer 5speed motorsets will cost around 2K. PM me for more info.

I just bought a 1jz a couple weeks ago from JHOT, paid $1450 shipped. ive spent alot on after market parts but factor in at least $2500.. or so , keep in mind rental of tools or tools you may need to purchase to do basic maintence..
It's alot easier to service the motor now then later...

first off i did the search.. i wasnt asking the overall cost of the swap, i was asking the price of the motor alone (the going rate these days) i couldnt find a solid answer to that... i could care less about how much anything else is. cherplex answered my question from the get go.. so let the thread go

lol, man you need a new source for information..
WIRES DO NEED TO BE EXTENDED.
Just not the harness , you can do the harness but it is possible to just extend the 5 body plugs as I did. It's still alot of hours i spent about 14 hours extending them 20", from what i hear you need to extend them from 18"-22". The ECU will not sit in the factory location, but that doesnt matter, it makes it easier then having to worry about if your knock sensor wires are working etc.

actually it doesnt need to be extended to work, the ecu can be relocated, but oem location is usually preferred, but if you dont trust your wiring skills you might be safer relocating it, i extended mine and we know its a pain in the
