I have quick question about the 5peed trans.
I just wanted to know if the Lexus SC300 5-Speed bolts up to the 2JZ-GTE engine,I also wanted to know if I get a 2JZ-GTE with a ECM for an Automatic trans. will it work ok even though I have a 5-Speed trans???
I think I know the answer to my question, but I just need to confirm it with you guys ,Thanks.... |
Yes, it will work with the GTE. You'll need to use the GE flywheel and clutch set-up. The GE and GTE blocks are identical with the exception of the GE blocks not having oil squirters.
The auto ECU may want to throw a code or check engine light. Also, it will want to pull timing at shift points which will cause power a power loss at said points. It will work though. |
www.clubna-t.com has more details on this issue as well.

I agree with the above. You could actually use the existing flywheel and clutch from your SC, however, take my advice, go with a heavier-duty clutch from the beginning. The Lexus clutch will NOT handle the extra torque of the GTE engine... mine lasted about 500 miles, and that was with pretty easy driving. I went with a modified Toyota truck clutch, which has held up great!

Yeah I'm in Salem Oregon, and I'll be up at P.I.R drifting my SC after I swap my GE engine out for a GTE.. |
