Exclamation 1jz vvt-i in a sc300....

I have a 93 sc 5spd. Im still going back and forth with my self in going with a 1jz or with a na-t. I found a 1jz vvt-i for a decent price and was wondering if I could swap it in the sc? Reasons for 1jz is ill get a lower mileage engine, mine has 137k miles. Smaller displacement = better gas mileage. But no egr so how ima pass inspection. But with na-t Ill get to my 350hp mark easily. But what about the head gasket and will the engine last on my yearly trip to atlanta.

Thanks
