Yes it would of course you may also loose a little power.
Are you sure the issue is timing?
Could be bad fuel, low octane, fouled plugs etc
It just strikes me that that isnt a huge amount of boost and if it was running fine and all of a sudden it starts pinging, there may be an issue other than timing.

It's always done it since the car was turbo'd. The dyno and S-AFC tune helped a little. But I notice it again. And I agree. It's not a lot of boost.
After posting I realized that I never checked the cap & rotor. So I had a look. My distributor cap is worn and the rotor is shot. I'm going to pick some up from the Toyota dealer tomorrow. I can't decide what else to check for what else could be the cause.

Heres an image of the rotor. The conductor is 3/4" wide. the only part thats left intact is one of the sides on the far edge. I guess the spark could be arching over just a few degrees off time. Dunno. I guess I'll find out when I throw the new parts on. This one is DENSO Brand. I'm wondering if that is the stock brand? If so this rotor has 60K on it. I guess I should have done a tune up before going to the dyno. Oh well.

^^ Unless his engine management has changed from his sig, he has no way or tuning timming.
lfrers: It could be the octane as to why your knocking. 15psi to 20psi is a big diffrence on 91 **** gas.

I'm going do the tune up.
Retard the timing a few degrees.
If that does not work i'll put in some 100LL avgas see if it helps.
OK one more question guys.
Would poor intercooling contribute to this as well?
My intercooler is a piece.
Its very old and was sprayed painted over 'cause it was so fugly. Its still 100f here everyday. Although it was in the 80s in San Diego and it was still pinging.
I ordered a new one.
Core Size 20"X6"X3"
Overall Size 23"x11"(9.5")"x3"
2.5"Inlet & Outlet
3" Thickness Core
My setup is strange. The car was originally buily up to a stage 4 car in 2000 by Toyomoto in FL.

Yea... That's what I was thinking too. I will go along with the process one step at a time and post what the fix was. I'm hoping it will just be a tune up or timing . I dont want to think I need to run 100 octane in this thing as a daily driver.. Is adjusting the timing back a bit a normal step to do in the NA-T process?
