i am aboiut to change my Diff fluid in my 97 sc300 and i was wondering where can i buy that GL-5 fluid, when i went to autozone they had mobil1 synthetic 75W-90 or something like that but nothing that said GL-5 on the front covoer. what kind of gear oil can i use on it would that mobil 1 be ok or no? or which kind do i need?

simpler question redline 75W-140 or Redline 75W-90? which one does our cars take?

Mobil One exceeds requirements of GL-5 as with all synthetics, I've been using it for years.

Mobile One versus Redline and lets add Amsoil, you'll hear different opionions from everyone.

All I can tell you is my experience with Mobile One oils in my 93 SC400. I bought the car new in 93, been running Mobile One 5W-30 since the second oil change, it now has 155,000 miles, runs like new and uses very little oil in between changes (never had to add). Switched over to Mobile One differential fluid around the 60,000 miles mark, works just fine. I'm also using Mobile One transmission fluid in the power steering system which is notorious for developing leaks and dripping all over the alternator on the SC400. Well, I'm still on the original power steering pump and no leaks at all.

For the price and availability, it's hard to beat Mobile One products. Redline and Amsoil make great products as well, it's up to personal experience and perference.

Bottom line, change all the fluids often and your car will last a long long time.

i know how to drain the old fluid but i odnt really know how to fill it back up. i can see the fill plug but it looks like its hard to fill streight from the bottle. any advice on this? i know when to stop filling thought, its when the fluidstarts to drip out of the fill hole.

You could attach a piece of hose to the nozzle of the bottle and squeeze, but it's easier to buy a small plunger pump from your local auto store.
