Default SC300 5sp Transmission Questions

So I have a 1993 5spd (W58) SC300. These cars did not come with a LSD. So I am thinking of replacing the transmission with a 6spd transmission from a supra. My question is, will it bolt up or are there any other transmissions out there that will handle 300+ HP that came with an LSD besides the 6spd version for the Supra? Thanks a lot.

Im currently doing a NA to Turbo and I am just trying to get my ducks in a row. Thanks in advance.

Please do some reading on what an LSD is and how it works. You may (or may not) come across the word: differential.
From your other post it seems like you understand the functionality of the Search button.
Please take your time and continue to use it.
I was on the forum for months before posting my first thread.

Welcome to CL.

Cheers,
~Alan

No, I understand what an LSD is. Im just wanting to know if any other transmissions bolt up and can handle gobs about of HP. If so Ill replace the rearend with a similar if not the same one from the model of car I get the transmission from.

And yeah, I understand what you're saying but this is a message board and a lot of the threads I read never ended in a true answer of what the person purchased/installed/worked.

Sorry but I want to do this right the first time instead of having to perform surgery on it every week.

In that case you can look into the R154 transimission (search).
As for the LSD, you would need the whole pumpkin or just the carrier out of an Auto TT Supra. You can do the pumpkin out of the 6spd but that would require replacement of 1 axle and a custom driveshaft (a bit of work).

Cheers,
~Alan

BoostLogic has a R154 conversion kit for the Supras and SC300s. Their na-t supra with the R154 is daily driven at the ~650rwhp level.

dejacky, I went to BL and searched but could not find a 5spd conversion kit. Do you have a link or could point me in the right direction? Im searching their site right now but not seeing anything.

That thread is impressive. But seriously, Instead of swapping transmissions, I would love to rebuild a W58 with aftermarket gears and synchros and make them hold high horsepower. I made a thread on it but no one replied or responded. It has to be possible.

Their R154 swap is public from what I understand. Call BoostLogic, they will sell you one. Be sure to talk to Ryan Parker, i.e. the pioneer of the BL R154 kit and the guy who has it in his Boost Logic supra.
