Ok guys,theres this guy in my area that just bought a 98+sc400,I don't know for sure because he told people his car came with 300hp,but never said a year. His previous car was a 99-03 v6 mustang with a 75 shot which he blew 2 pistons in. Now he told some friends of mine that he has full exhaust and intake in it and dyno'd at 340rwhp. I called bull**** but since he wasen't there,he can't explain what he has done. I do know that he said he WILL NOT shot nitrous in it,but only use it to purge. So with exhaust and intake i'm guessing that he should be around 285-290rwhp????? I've always heard this engine is not that great at responding to mods, so to get 340rwhp in a N/A engine what do you need?

With exhaust and intake he's at 240 - 260 rwhp with those mods.

You sure that was a '3' and not a '2' ?

positive it was 340 and not 240 because he was making a big deal out of it. Plus hes the type of guy that will catch a 8lbs bass and by the time he gets home and tells people its a 28lbs bass.

Well I think your guess of 285-290hp is pretty much correct. I think that year SC400 came with 290hp 300tq STOCK! Your friend makes the nitrous story sounds unbelievable only because of the fact that no one would ever spend alot of money on a nitrous kit so they can only use it for purging. So for sure he has a full exhaust and for sure he has an intake and for sure he has nitrous. I'd like to know how many shots he is injecting and what track times he is clocking in at so maybe his story can sound more belivable. I used to race my friend's SC400 with basic mods and a 150 shot nitrous. I do believe he can push out over 300hp but with other unmentioned mods.

He had the nitrous on his previous car and blew the engine with it so thats why hes not using it on the SC400. Thats the only mods he says he has and he like to brag so i don't think he has anything else. I think he full of *****,but just wanted to see if I was wrong.
I found out he claims 12.7s in the 1/4 don't know a trap speed.

No way he's at 290hp without nitrous or some significant internal work the likes we've never seen here on our forum. The stock 98 + SC is 290 hp at the crank, not the wheels and figure a 20% drivetrain loss .... I've looked at dozens of dynos of modified 98+ GS400's (my own included) and think he is either on NOS or on crack. .

Here are some examples of dynos with an intake + ECU (which he may have an SRT like these or other intake with SAFC or something similar) and most with exhaust. Hell, I've only got 385 RWHP and I have a supercharger on that exact same motor.
