Default for experts, please help :(

upon seconds of starting my car, the interior gets surrounded by some white gaseous material. it quickly disappears but it has me concerned. i should also note that the car when cold has a weird idle, the revs jump up and down and the exhaust note is not constant. once it warms, everything calms and the revs are steady at 800 rpm. i placed my hand 2 inches away from the exhaust mouth and it flows freely without hesitating, it does the complete opposite when cold. does anyone have any advice? my car has a mis, but only when COLD.
thanks

Catalytic Convertor?
I believe they are the cause for the white smoke during cold mornings you see coming out the back of cars, something about needing to be warm to work right?

sounds like yours has a huge hole you something? but you SHOULD hear that, cuz i have one
how it gets inside, tranny tunnel?

and for the erratic idle, not sure, but i did have an idle that dropped quite a bit when my plugs were starting to go

(and no, i am NOT an expert)

How many miles do you have on your car, it seems to definitely need a tune up.

The coldstart is normal, but it shouldnt be nearly as bad as you describe it.

the white gas-like substance comes from the engine bay into the cabin, not the tailpipes. the revs bouce so low that sometimes it shuts off. it starts right up and usually hold idle til it warms up. i have a whole lot of service records, i should check it out.
