use a paper clip and connect port fp and b+ in the diagnostic port by the engine,
see if it starts right up

there should be a diagram of the ports on the port cover.

if it does then your fuel pump ECU is bad.

ok ill try that thank you, i mean it almost like its not getting enough fuel or spark, but at higher rpms its running fine, and i mean theres plenty of power and torque, could just be as simple as a new set of plugs? i feel like and idiot and im sorry to those who read this a curse at me.

I'd try the basic maintenance items. New Plugs, wires, Distributor & Cap & Rotor, Reset the ECU (pull the fuse or take off the battery cable for 5min). Then see how its running. Might also want to clean out the Throttle Body with some carb cleaner while you're in there if you haven't done any of this.

Default same problem maybe

Hmm. I think I have the same problem-- sorry I had a little difficulty reading your entry b/c there were no punctuation marks.

My car's been running fine whenever it's not idling. The car flat out died on my twice or three times in the last week on the road when I was cruising at 5 or 10 mph over the speedbumps near my apartment ( I have an automatic btw). The mechanic couldn't find the problem last week. Finally, when i was driving this week the check engine light came on and stayed on -- last week it would come and go, but of course when I bring it to the mechanic, it's not there.

I did the self diagnostic thing with the jumer wire to read the engine codes and i believe code 41 and 71 came on. 41 i think is for the TP (throttle position)sensor and 71 is for the EGR sensor. I'm getting the car looked at the shop now, but i'll keep you posted.

So your saying she starts fine and goes to a high idle at 2K then drops down and dies??? You might have the idle set too low and that causes the motor to stall. Happened on our Maxima, and we fixed that right up

Periods work wonders

Also, watch that screw. My one basically broke when I tried to turn it. No idea why it did that

Got the car back from the mechanic. The EGR code was just a loose vacuum hose, but the TP sensor was a little more serious. He told me to replace the part. Man, i can't remember which part he said -- throttle body or something. Anyway, the part is $140 and he wanted 1 1/2 hr of labor, so I told him I'd think about it. I asked him if cleaning the part would help, but he said since the part is sealed, dirt wouldn't really get in.

For now, I think i'm just going to use the good old ac trick. I have to call again to ask which part needs to be changed.

I didn't think the idle could be set manually. I thought it was controlled electronically via the ECU and it's related friends/sensors etc. Oh, btw...Four commas!

adjust your idle screw, this should solve it if it running fine otherwise, it doesnt sound like its going to be anything too major so dont get too worried about it.
