Default MAF relocated?

ok u laways here the ordeal of a non recirculating blow off valve causing the engine to take in less air then the cpu reads because the MAF is right next to the filter and doesnt take into account the lost air. So has anyone just relocated their MAF to after the BOV? i was wondering peoples opinions, anyone done it, anyone think of problems that may arise, i was thinkin it might not work because of the back pressure between the bov and the throttle body, also is there a way to change it to a MAP instead? just looking for ideas to avoid the recirculation route but have a smooth engine, thanks

The engine will run funky with the MAF on the pressure side of the turbo...where it would have to be in order to be located after the BOV. Way too much work to get a "cool" sound IMO. If you're concerned with the stock bypass valve's ability to work, get a Greddy and recirculate that like stock.

Your sig says 1JZ...is that what you're running, or planning to run? If so, that's already a speed-density setup (it has a MAP sensor). The only MAF-equipped engines are the USDM 2JZ-GE and GTE. The JDM 2JZ also has a MAP sensor.

Actually you can run the MAF on the pressurized side of the turbo and have it read correctly, but you are suppose to place it atleast 12 inches away from any bends/turns in the piping because it disturbs the airflow and will cause the MAF to read funny. You can upgrade to a MAP with AEM EMS, greddy emanage and probably some other engine management systems. I'd probably just run a MAP or recirc it.

You can put the MAF pressured side, but some problems will arise. Because the turbo runs on oil, small amounts of oil will cover the MAF and soon your car won't be running too well.

The best method is just to recirculate the BOV back into the intake.
