Post DYNO Results for my SC400

I had the car tuned and dyno'ed today...

I have BFI, cat-back exhaust, apexi safc 2

Initially the car ran 176 at the wheels
After the final tuning it ran 208 HP and 219 TQ

Over all I am very pleased with everything.. The sc feels like a new car, especially the 4-6.5k range in 1st gear I gained near 40HP or at least it feels like it... on the highway I don’t even have to down shift to pass.. 4th can keep its own and lets u pass people with ease...

Over all I spent 150(safc) + 125 Dyno = $275
The HP gain - 208-176= 32 hp
275/32= $8.50 per pony and it was worth every penny

Todd at TM referred me to Darren @ R & D dyno (310) 516-003. He was very professional and a very nice guy.. took time to answered all my questions and did a great job. He had me in and out in under an hour which was great also..

Thanks guys... you had to see the grin on my face.... it was from ear to ear...

On the second light after I left darrons those new sentra v spec type R's pulled next to me and threw a rev... so I thought what the hell... I ate him alive , lol 1-2 shift I had him by a car.. He broke his tires loose for a bit on his shift from 1-2 and then in second I pulled another car, car and a half.
I dunno I always was under the impression those were quick so that’s why I even tried..

That's, a great increase... Yeah, your car really should feel much better...

Just shows you how conservative Lexus really tuned these cars...

It's good to see that this mod brings respectable gains. I've had a safc2 installed for months now but I just haven't had the time to get it tuned.

Now that I think about it, I haven't driven in over 6 months

I was expecting to get numbers around yours.. Once he told me I was making 208 I was happy.... Darren said he coulda squeezed 215 outta the car but if he did that he said I would have lost some in the low end for some reason... So I opted to keep the safest, more efficient mixture....

The numbers are still nothing to brag about... it’s still pretty pathetic for a V8 but it will do for now...

Woa +32 HP. Thats pretty good. What do you think the safc can do for a 300?

If you have an intake and exhaust.... I would say around 20HP... a friend with a IS 3 with intake and exhaust got 23 extra HP outta it.

good luck

Did the torque convertor not add any power? I was under the impression that JPI claimed a ~40 RWTQ increase with it.

Either way, nice numbers. How was it to tune the SAFC? I might want to look into picking one up after I get my exhaust and BFI done.

Honestly man.. The TC I have on my car is a POS.. Its not JPI (precision industries one) it was bought from another person who Rebuilds them to 2800 stall spec and it has never "worked" even tho this was the 2nd one we put in... Both had same results so I gave up, and the guy who was selling them blamed my car for the problem

Anyway I was talking to Darren about it and he said that a lot of people who sell things like TC don’t really know what their selling and they confuse stall speed with flash point .. I dunno but in any case t a TC shouldn’t increase your power to TQ... it just dictates how (what RPM) the engine and tranny engage.. a TC should have no effect on a dyno run...

So it's just moving the power you would have, down to a lower RPM?

If this is the case, then I'm wondering how JPI was able to make their increase claims.
