Default stupid 1JZ question (tranny related)

I didnt search so HA

OK. I want to install a GM TH700r4 tranny to my 1JZGTE in the near future. Alot cheaper then a built toyota tranny, more choice for torque converters, and oh yeah, its alot cheaper when they blow up. You can get stock ones for 50 bux.

Simple question. Does the standard GM adapter plate from the 2JZGTE work on the 1JZGTE?

The 1jz block is nothing more than a 2jz block chopped down about 1/2" from top. That's why the stroke is less; however, the 2jz and 1jz bores are identical. Therefore, the mounting interface to transmission is the same as the 2jz. You can draw your own conclusions about whether or not it will work...

Good thats exactly what i needed to know

I guess ill also have to look for a 5spd center console to hide the aftermarket shifter for the transmission. My stock auto wont handle a upgraded turbo, wont even handle upped boost (slipps bad), and it costs 2-3x more to build that tranny up rather then to just switch to a GM that is easy to build, replace, repair. Ill throw a stock one in there probably by the end of may.

TH700r4 overdrive GM tranny? in just about anything from the 1980 to 1992. Also TH200r4 from the grand national, but they change to th700r4. Overdrive is manual, not electroncially controlled.
