Default '97 sc300 issue at a stop or in park

I have a '97 SC300 with 78K miles. At times when i come to a stop or have it in Park, the engine will THUMP and the RPM needle will drop each time. If then feels like the car is about to stall and die when it gets real low. Any ideas as to what it might be?

I've tried a search but only found posts that mention jerks while driving. And not at a stop.

Thanks

When you ask an engine related question, stick it in the engine forum, pls.

You need to check for intake leaks first since they are easiest to track down. Vac lines, things like that. Then move on to other possibilities such as a bad fuel pump ECU.

I have definately heard of this thump before on here, so might change your search terms and find that thread. It would be last year earlier in the year if I recall.
