Default Auto Trans problem, need help !

Gotta 94 NA and my tranny is starting to have issues. When starting from a stop I can hear an electrical clicking sound coming from the tranny, sounds like a relay or selonoid of some kind and then my car has issues shifting. It's like its trying to change gears when it shouldn't be, so it's not like its slipping but more like its trying to change gears when it shouldn't be. any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking a speed control sensor? what do you guys think?
thanks!

Has the transmission been regularly serviced? When was the fluid last changed? Is it currently black and contaminated? Contaminates in the fluid will cause the solenoids to become "sticky"....

Fluids fine, it's been changed. I believe the filter was suppose to have been changed also.
It definitely sounds like a relay or something "clicking" like a relay forcing it to try and change gears when it shouldn't be. Some kind of speed sensor gone bad? Not sure if there is a rpm sensor or just speed sensors?
