Default 5-speed swap driveshaft W58??

im in the process of finishing up my 5-speed swap and came accross a driveshaft problem. do i need a 5-speed driveshaft for my swap?? im still using the stock auto diff. the stock auto driveshaft is a few inches too short. my car is a 92 sc3 and i believe the tranny is a 93 W58

The chances of the auto DS working with the W58 are about zero which means you'll also need the 5-speed diff and DS.

What ECU and harness do you have?

i am using the auto ecu and wiring harness? does it make any difference?? i have read that the auto would work with the 5-speed trans w/o any problems.

is it possible to get s spacer made or lengthen the auto driveshaft?? would my gearing be all messed up if i stick with the auto diff??

i believe jspec is running a auto driveshaft and auto diff w/ the w58 trans

Yes indeed. Im using my AUTO differential on my AUTO driveshaft on my MANUAL W58. It was a huge shocker when I found out that my 5speed driveshaft didnt fit. The first section of the auto and manual driveshaft are the same. The second half that goes into the differential are different lengths. After I had completed the swap I made a post about this little surprise. The answers I was recieving were that the AUTO differential is longer than the 5speed Differential.

jspec, what year w58 did you install? was it from a 95 and up? they are longer than the 92-94 w58 trannys which maybe why your driveshaft lined up?

The W58 came off of a 96 Supra. Someone told me that the AUTO pumpkin on our SCs are also longer than the Manual ones. So if I have a longer W58 and longer AUTO pumpkin, that would leave me with a perfect fitting AUTO driveshaft. Ok I understand now.

Now for prjctSC300, would the 5speed driveshaft fit with his W58 and AUTO pumpkin? Or would he have to get the Manual pumpkin to make it fit?

Ask him to test fit the parts for us when he is near completion. And then have him post in this thread. I know prjctSC300 is near completion also and he is just waiting for this one answer to complete his project.

Also, since he is using your parts, What year is the tranny from and what year SC is it going into?

right now i am waiting for a clutch until i can throw the tranny on to see what fits, i wont have this completed until probably this weekend since the clutch is due on friday.

as of now my plans are to use the auto diff, and i have the option of using a manual driveshaft or auto DS.
