Default New Intake Pic- Joe Z Pipe Installed

Just put in this Joe Z pipe for an IS3 into my SC3. Since i didn't want a short ram intake like the injen, and i'm not sure i wanna mod the SRT intake to fit i ended up buying this Joe Z pipe and hoping it'd fit in the engine bay.

It does and no codes! haven't had a chance to drive it yet but overall it fits well, really snug (hence only one clamp, i may change that later on but for now there is NO play in the pipe or the couplers). it doesn't fit 100%, more like 97% as the angle is a bit sharper in the SC then the IS but overall it looks good. i plan to feel no gains on this but i did it mostly to see if i could adapt IS parts to fit the SC.

Next up, IS header.

well the sound is there actually but it wasn't worth mentioning.

As for the gains, probably none i can notice. the IS guys were seeing 7hp5tq when dyno'd on a stock filter, more with the TRD filter.

Is this "JOE Z" intake CARB Legal? Why doesnt it have a PVC pipe connected? Do you have a link or source of where you got it from? I might be interested in just the MAF sensor.

Seeing as there isnt a carb badge, no its probably not Carb legal. The PVC hose was disconnected and was replaced with a breather filter.

i'd link ya to the IS forums but i'm not sure if that's allowed here.

basically it just smoothed out the intake path.

Which I doubt would do anything.

Here is a little jingle that I just came up with.

"B.F.I. or don't even try"

umm, so the IS3 guys who get gains with it are lying? their dynos are wrong? Das over on my.is who knows more about getting NA power out of this engine is wrong with all of his research?

BFI is fine, i didn't want to cut anything though. The gains are there, they are minimal but they are there. i didn't make a big deal out of it (power wise, it does look better then stock) so i suggest you guys don't either.

In California the PVC hose must not be disconnected or replaced by breather filters. This can get you a one way ticket straight to the State Referee. They also just recently raised their fines. Watch out for the Feds.

i wouldn't have done it without researching first. it's similar to the g35 guys using the Z intake pipe. hence the name.

it's a meh mod, but it works.
