Default Air Intake

Hey guys what would be the best material to use to shield the air intake from the engine??? I thought about metal, but i assumed that this would only increase the heat, and make that area of the engine bay more like a sauna. Any ideas?

I am not sure about what type of material, but please get rid of those rims! Other than that your car is sweet.

Try searching for the material on here. Or maybe search on google.

Nice RIDE but only the Rims. Well some peolpe used the waterproof boards the one's that you can see advertised during House for Sale or whatever....I've seen people modified them and used it.Just get the board from a Real Estate firm or look for it in someone else compound when they are asleep.

Also, theres a special thread on this at Toyotaimportsforum UK..

All the Best

I would suggest using the insulation material used to wrap water heaters. It is an excellent insulator, available at all hardware stores, sometime sold by the foot. I am working on something to improve or hide the look, but I can tell you straight up this stuff works. My cone intake is unfortunately way to close to an all aluminum Koyo radiator that gets way hotter to the touch than the stock. You can see some of it here, obviously this is a work in process. btw, that is a 10" x 4" x 6" heater duct jamming cold air up under the passenger side light into the filter intake area, you see some of the shinny galvi steel in the pix as well, yes it works.
