Default Engine won't rev past 2000 rpm!!!

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this situation. I was just cleaning the undercarriage of my 1jz swapped sc. Went to start the car about an hour later and it wont rev past 2000 rpm! If I hold down the accelerator, it jumps back and forth from 750 rpm to 2000 rpm on its own. Anyone experienced this? I already searched but I didnt find any useful info. Thanks.

Make sure the MAP sensor is connected and hose is connected. Once my map sensor plug worked itself loose, car ran like *****, about like what u have.

I dont know what to tell you. It sounds like a transmission problem. My car wouldnt Rev past 4000k when I let it sit for a month straight. I forced it and forced it until it finally started Revving the way it should be.

I don't want to start a new thread about this but the same thing is happening to mine. I blew a heater hose yesterday on the highway, and after I fixed it and filled it up with coolant, it would not rev past 2k. It did spray coolant all over the charcoal canister area where the harness goes through the firewall, so I'm thinking wiring. I tried resetting the ECU, but no luck. Do you guys think its probably wet wires, or could it be something else? Thanks

I have similar symptoms with my 92 SC400; erratic tach, no throttle above 2000 RPM, fuel smell, and crackly cats. I followed a thread that wound 2 1/2 years with no consensus. I had a tech at work (a fairly technologically advanced Ford store) look at it, he said MAF, TBS, and EGO sensors seemed to be in range. Seemed the best luck anyone on the thread had was to disconnect the MAF. Got nothing to lose, going to pull the plug tomorrow. BTW, tech did clean the MAF with no positive outcome.
