Whew, solved the above problem after a break and fresh start. There were burrs on the sleeve in the support brace that the 14mm bolt passes through, keeping the one bolt from lining up with the hole no matter how much I tried shifting the brace around. (Easier said than done, being on a bit of a slope which kept the jack from being able to raise the tranny perfectly level.) Once I filed the burrs down slightly, the bolt popped right in. Wish I had tried that two hours and a fair bit of profanity earlier.

Any issues since then? I might do the same thing, the holes don't line up very well.

No issues, although I have spare bolts now and am planning to swap a better one in when I replace my rear swaybar mount bolts. Of course, I don't think I made note of which the bad one is, so that may be an annoying process of elimination...
