Default is my starter gone?

93 sc400 died on me this morning as i was trying to start it

it's been slow to fire up for the last few months - but would always start up eventually

when i tried to fire it up this morning, it cranked...cranked...cranked.... then died

i'm not sure if it's the battery or not.. the interior lights work ok. when i turn the key to the 'on' position, the dash will light up a little, but then when i turn the key the rest of the way, I get nothing. no clicking, just nothing at all.

do i need to start shopping for a starter?

haven't tried actual cables... i have a battery charger that can juice the battery thru the cigarette lighter socket.. it's worked for me before on other cars but didn't save me here

might as well give the cables a try before towing to a shop i guess

turned out to be a loose/corroded battery cable connection

good thing.. labor on those starters is a killer!
