It's been a little while since I've owned a manual transmission car, so my runs were not very good. It was a bit warm that particular evening as well. I think I could drop a few tenths, at least, with some better shifting. In fact, it's just about time to go out again...
1995 5MT SC300 (see mods in the sig):
0 - 60 run 1: 7.4 seconds
Quarter mile run 1: 16.2 @ 90mph
0-60 run 2: 7.9 seconds
Quarter mile run 2: 16.3 @ 89mph
These runs were also just after I got it, so no tuneups had been made. Since then, I've replaced all the essentials for keeping the car in check.
BTW - When I changed the plugs, I think they were the originals. Car has 111k miles.

Well so far I have found G-Tech to be preaty acurate. Readings are preaty constant. I tested other cars just to see If its close to numbers that the car should have.

Ps. Did you do this test with bigger or smaller wheels on the car?
Nice Times By The Way!

tested it with 17" wheels 235/45/17 on back and 225/45/17 tires on front
I think maybe mods gave around 20hp.
I think mojor improvement over stock is at higher speeds 40 and over.
My friend had a 95 sc400 with 260hp stock . We raced on the freeway before the mods and he slightly had the edge over me but after the MODS way differant story I was easily pulling 2-3 car lenghs on him. He was shocked. However, from 0-60 his car for some reason still has a small speed advantage. I think my problem from 0-60 is heatsoak check my other thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=185248

Regarding the exhaust mods, YES, exhaust CAN definitely but not always increase power. Here is a good link https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hlight=exhaust
Also, the SC did not get the upgraded 260hp engine until 1996, only the LS400 got the upgrade in 1995. The reason your car was slower 0-60 before the exhaust is probably as simple as his car just runs a little stronger. Now that your exhaust gives you the top end advantage that does NOT mean you have gained low RPM power in fact depending on the design you may have lost power.
People tend to think of power as a static number such as "I have 250hp" when in fact peak power only happens at one RPM. Below and above that RPM you have less. At low RPM you have dramatically less. If your exhaust hurts your low RPM power then you will have slower acceleration up until the point that it is improved. Make sense?
Exhaust can definitely improve power

I Would say that major gain was noticed after the Air intake modification not the exhaust. I did the exhaust first then the Air chamber or BFI as in www.planetsoarer.com
As far as my friends SC400 it must have been a 96 not a 95 because his Air flow Meter was Diferent then mine. I remember comparing it to mine. So i must have the years confused.
