Default Car is shifting kinda slow

I've been driving my buddy's '04 Auto IS300 and let me tell you, the shifts are EFFORTLESS. I don't know how to explain it, but the car doesn't "lag" when it shifts and it shifts real quickly and strongly. My SC doesn't shift like that at all; why is that? I'm talking about WOT shifting by the way. Even more fun is when I put it in e-shift mode; the IS actually made me love it because the shifts were so smooth, crisp, and strong. My SC shifts a little slowly and kinda hard; you could feel the shift in other ways and you can feel the lag. Is there anything wrong with my transmission? I brought it to Larry at Sound Performance a few months ago and he attested my car ran perfectly. You think the crispness of shifts have a lot to do with the torque convertor?? Man this is driving me nuts.

This is why everybody wants a 5-speed! The auto trans on the SC is not exactly crisp at Wide Open Throttle and it is on sedatives when you stomp on it because you want to downshift. Slushbox is a good description. It's just the nature of the beast. I changed my transmission fluid and it made a difference, but nothing drastic.

Also, the IS is lighter and has a different trans so that will make it feel more crisp when it shifts.

The SC doesn't have the best transmission. However, if you put on a shift kit, it should improve things drastically as far as performance is concerned.

What is this shift kit you speak of? No matter how much Larry told me my car was fine; I'm just too stubborn to accept that. I'm real PICKY as well. After driving the IS; boy was I jealous and I actually started to like auto.

Click on my sig and you will find that there is a place in NJ that does valve body upgrades aka shift kits. I've been meaning to do some business with them but my schedule hasn't permitted it yet.
