Default Full exhaust: 2.5" vs. 2.25" w/ X-Pipe

I wanted to get some feedback on members who have done exhaust from the first set of cats back, removed the third cat and replaced with an X-Pipe, what size piping used, performance gain, sound etc... Thanks in advance!
