Spark plugs, post your experiences.
 

As part of an FAQ for this forum, I am asking for spark plug parts numbers and price if possible. You should post all that you have tried and what car you have.

Example:
Car: SC400
Plug: Autolite
Price: $50 for all 8
Comments: They stink, use your money on some real plugs.

Price: $50 shipped for 6 plugs
Comments: So far so good. I don't remember when the last time the plugs were changed. Did a whole tuneup on the car when I replaced them so I'll refrain from giving them all the credit. However since then, my mpg has increased and engine pulls hard and strong. Very satisfied.

comments: pretty good, havent really had anything to compare them to...but definitely runs a lot better than the plugs that were in there befor ebut they looked old.

Even if they don't last as long thats not an issue to me becuase i usually swap out plugs every 10-20k miles anyways.

so i'm not looking for something that'll last until i get another car.

In my experience though, if it says NGK, it really doesnt matter what the plug is.

Working perfectly and are supposed to be unfoulable. Sounds good cause the less I have to remove the throttle body, the better

PS. Autolite and Champion blow...and suck. They blow and suck at the same time...terrible plugs

Comments: Replaced these along with the distributor rotor and cap and the spark plug wires. Very noticable improvements made - improved gas milage, idles smoother, engine pulls harder, overall satisfied.

Car: 97 LS400
Plug: Bosch Platnium +4
Price: Cant remember (Been running then for about 4 years)
Comments: I have not had a single problem. I am thinking about going to iridium just to see what it's about, but the +4's I feel have done me right.

^^ FYI my Bosch 4+ exploded after 200 miles in my BMW. The electrode split down the center. I got like a week of use.

...another FYI. I've put about 20K miles on the Bosch +4's in my Camaro, lots of hard driving and the car was untuned and running like CRAP with knock and A/F ratios all over the place (not the plugs fault, have since straightened everything out, car runs great now). My plugs survived a lot, still work great. :thumbup:

About to put new Iridium plugs in the SC. I'll be sure to post an evaluation afterwards.

It's possible the plug was defective. I would hardly say this type of incident is normal or related to this brand of plug or any other brand of plug for that matter.

It's even possible the plug(s) was over torqued when installing or damaged in some other way.

I don't think your Beemer eats Bosch plugs for breakfast. :)
