Default 8920 tach adapter

I hooked it up using the same power and rpm reference that my Apexi uses and tapped the tach wire to the dash. Nothing. I can hear it working so I'm sure it's hooked up right. Did anyone get this to work on a 1jz?

did you set it up as a voltage triggered system or a current triggered system?
