Stock turbos on 1jzgte
What model are the turbos on the stock 1jzgte? More specifically, what is the flange type?
Thanks in advance |
Toyota ct-12a
|
CT12A with ceramic turbine/compressor wheels.

cool, I did some more research this morning and found the same thing. I appreciate the help.
Next question is, why upgrade to a single turbo on a daily driver? Could you just upgrade the existing twins with larger turbos? I understand that the stock manifold is heavy and may not be the best flowing, but that is nothing a little porting couldn't help. |
Well being that they are ceremic blades, no matter what you do, they will only support so much cfm/psi before they self destruct, i think. But im sure porting the manifold, pipes, etc will gain u some HP.. or u can just install a GT35r :)

You can only port the manifolds so much.... You would then need to run hybrids (steel wheeled c12a's) to get the most from the turbos and the gains would not be that great. You would also increase the spool up time due to the steel wheels.
It would be better then stock but not worth the effort in my opinion, you would always long for more and in the end would most likely go single anyway if your serious about performance. You can put on a single and it can still be a daily driver. |
Cool, thanks for your opinions. The next logical question then is, where to find an appropriate single turbo manifold/kit. I could piece some stuff together, but the tubular manifolds that are out for the 1jz don't seem like they last without cracking. I have no first hand experience of them cracking on anything but Hondas...

Question, now the intake wheels on my 1jzgte stock turbos are steel, is it just the exhaust wheels that are ceramic?

HKS and Greddy (Trust) do the best examples but they cost quite a bit. There are some no-name ones kicking about but personally I would not mess with them. That's not to say they are not good enough it is just my personal opinion.
I do know of one fine example that I would try if I ever needed another one only catch is it would have to be shipped from Australia but that is not as bad as it sounds. The price is good though. $ 800.00 AUD Australia Dollars = $ 612.944 USD United States Dollars That would be without shipping of course. Some pics: |

oooo i want 1. Shipping from austraulia to US isnt expensive.. I got my 1jzgte ECU shipped for $30 air freight.
Side question, are the turbine wheels ceramic or are both supposed to be? My intake wheels on my 1jzgte turbos are steel.... |
Both are ceramic ....
|
then, why do the blades on my 1jzgte soarer clip attract a magnet??!?!???? :uh:
|
How about using 2 medium sized turbos like t28s?
|
Ive always thought about using two K26's
