Default A little help with exhaust

after reading till my head hurts on exhaust I put these questions to the board 95 sc400

Thinkin of replacing my cats with these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/lexus...QQcmdZViewItem

and using this x pipe

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

keeping the stock mufflers

Couple of questions

first is this a good idea? Will higher flow cats and this x mean a really loud noisy car?

What would the gains be by using these cats or should i just keep stock and use an x pipe

any help is appreciated

uhh... if you want to do exhaust and you're planning to get a x pipe and new cat, why not just do the whole exhause from the cats back? there is no sense getting free-flowing cats and an x pipe if you're just going to keep stock resonators and stock mufflers which will kill what you're trying to accomplish. if you want to do it right, and you want to get cats... get the cats, x-pipe, new mufflers, delete resonators and get some 2.5'' piping made. it'll rock.

well stock mufflers are also part of the restriction problems on the sc. i'd highly recommend getting aftermarket mufflers as well... it's like building a 2 foot wide pipe then forcing everything out a 2 inch hole. you're not really gettin anywhere. i have magnaflows and really love the sound, but it's all personal preference. if you're worried about retaining the stock look, you can do that and improve flow. just search around to see what options there are.

or if you want good sound with no $$$ take the 15mins and just unbolt the stock mufflers. Its not loud at all, and with the resonators on there it sounds good. Of course youll be left with an empty bumper, but then everyone will think your turbo lol
