SC300 Window Wiring??
Ok heres the problem. I bought my SC with a window problem, thinking it was easy to fix. Buuuut, the master switch doesnt work for both windows. Although the passenger window switch does work. It's not the master switch because I bought a NEW one, and the only problem on the master switch is the windows because everything else works. All the wires and clips are connected. But I dont really comprehend how wires can actually defect.. possible window motor??????Help me please. yay.
thanks to dahozzman for the help but everything seems to be ok from his diagnosis

hes right...i had that problem in my previous sc. when i would hit the window switch..it would make a buzzing sound...but the window wouldnt move. turns out it was a broken ground wire in that tube. the wire was white with black stripe i think.

i just bought my SC this past weekend. Im also having this buzzing noise from drivers side switch, but i dont have any ssound on the passenger switch. Both windows dont go down or up. Help please. Is it the switch or wiring? i took a look at the harness in the door jam, but am i suppose to cute the tube and expose the wires? i also notice that my doors will try to lock and unlock randomly.

dont cut the tube....you need to unplug the door connectors that are under the carpeted kick panel, and pull the wires out thru that hole....the rubber grommet pops out, and then you can undo all that tape and stuff, to get to the broken ground wire

I am having this exact same issue now.
The passenger switch works fine but the master does nothing. The locks are normal. The master is also not lighting up. I checked pin 9 on the harness and it has no power. The fuses check out okay.
I suspect broken wire in the door harness.
Are all model years of harness the same for the driver's door? I can get one out of a 96 for about $15. Since there is not much space there to do a solder job I guess the harness has to come out anyway. If I can find a good one I will just replace it.

Searching for something else and saw this thread, so might as well answer the 4.5 year old question...
'96+ has the auto-dimming mirrors, which means extra wiring to the doors and different mirror connectors. You can hack up the connectors to keep basic mirror functionality. As far as I know, '92-95 and '96-00 are interchangeable.

Hello, I recently relocated my wheel well harness and for some reason am now experiencing the buzzing in the driver side window switch. If I open the door it’ll work, but closed i just get the buzzing.
my question is, can I just Splice at the window switch and ground the white wire w/black stripe to the chassis anywhere? Or do i need to trace the entire wire through all its connectors and find the break and solder it?
thanks y’all

I am new to the club. I have 2000 SC300 and have exact same issue with windows. Windows are not operational. Doors lock try to lock and unlock randomly. I tried replacing the switch thinking the switch is bad but still same issue. When pressing the window switch, I can hear noise and door locks starts toggling. Has this been resolved? Help and thanks in advance.
