Question Fuel Grade (somone please reply quickly)

Alright heres the deal. I may be purchasing a 1992 Lexus sc300 today. The car has extremely low milage about 65K. I have read the debates about fuel grand and i see people going back and forth on which is best to use. The man i may be buying the car from tells me hes been using 87 for as long as he remmembers. I however will be using 91 if i purchase this car. MY QUESTION IS...... could he have caused damage to the car in any way by using low grade gasoline? If so what could be damaged? Is it detremental to the engine itself??

ANY INPUT WEILL BE HELPFULL. Thank you all in advance.

The car should be ok...

You can use the lower octane fuel as long as the motor does ping or knock.
I use 91 for my 400, so using 91 from here on out is ok as well...

well the guy says the car "drives fine with 87." Im also guessing he doesnt drive the car very hard, scince hes an older family man. Im going to see the car in one hour, if it looks/drives good ill buy it. So are you saying that in general absolutely nothing goes wronge if you use lower octane then reccomended? And if by any chance it could cause damage, what could it cause the most damage to?

I bought my 92 in feb.
the guy i bought from was runing 89.
It ran fine but i failed the knock test on emissions.
so don't rev the crap out of it and start runing premium
btw my car has 185k and runs great
i used a little stp gas treatment when i first got the car.
Good luck with the buy
