Default driveshaft bushing?

I've done a lot of work on my SC400 and noticed that my driveshaft bushing has rather large chunks taken out of it. Is it crucial that I replace it? If so, how difficult is it to be replaced? What exactly does it do?

thanks

those are sold all over e-bay
they have a lifespan about same as motor mounts, it's the same rubber
if it has big chunks missing it's either too old and is starting to fall apart or somebody has been trying to remove it unsuccessfully
it might even throw things out of balance depending on how big the missing chunks are but i'm not 100% sure on that

let see who else has something to say

one is inbetween tranny and driveshaft and the other one is between driveshaft and the differential, you'll see it when you get under there, thick rubber hockey-puck-looking-like things
you will need to have the driveshaft to have about 1 inch play, so you probably wanna unbolt the motor mounts and transmission mount, lift the engine up so the mounts bolts are out of their holes
dont forget to mark the driveshaft position with ink pen or you might re-install it wrong and have vibrations afterwards

good luck

oh yeah, it helps if you unbolt the exhaust too, just to have more room
