Default Magnet oil drain plugs

was browsing through ebay with a "sc300" search and came upon these magnetic drain plugs. my question is do they really work? i'm thinking about getting one because i went turbo and am pretty scared that i have metal pieces in the oil pan from tapping the oil line.

They do work, I have one in my SC and every time I change my oil there is some little metal shards on the tip, not many though.

two engine questions, now in the engine forum

Ps- anything magnetic in the engine is a good thing as long as you can get to it to clean it.

Magnets do work, but not on the Aluminum from drilling your pan. You shouldnt have a problem though. They will usually flow out when you change your oil or just get caught in the pickup strainer in the pan and then lastly into the filter.
