Default Coolant Leak - Pics of source of the problem

Hey I've been losing coolant since I got my car but have never been able to figure out why. I always figured that the last owner didn't have the right coolant/water ratio and it was all boiling into the overflow tank, which it was for the mostpart, but I fixed that and I'm still losing coolant.

Here's 1 picture of where the coolant is leaking out of. What is this and does anything need to be done about it?

I also have this layer of grease/oil all around under the cap and rotor and all the way down to the alternator. Is this just a valve cover gasket or something like this that needs to be replaced?

Your water leak is at the water pump. Replace it.

Your oil leak is either your valve cover gaskets, or your distributor o-ring.

Word, do both. The o-ring is like a half hour job, and then the valve cover gaskets are a few hours. Do it before your alternator gets soaked and goes out on you though!!!

I replaced my VC gaskets and the distributor o-ring and I STILL have oil/grease in that area. What else could it be?

Is it leaking thru the distributor itself? It has an internal seal that seldom goes bad. How's the inside of the dizzy look?

Take some carb cleaner and clean up the area and trace it back to the source. There's not much more that can leak on that corner assuming that the valve cover gaskets were installed correctly and the dizzy o-ring was the right one.

The dizzy and the little aluminum shelf that sits under it is clean...the grease/oil seems to come from under the left side of the timing cover and drips down onto the water pump...I'm starting to think this idiot mechanic installed the valve cover gaskets incorrectly...if that's possible...

I'm in the same place man. Nothing else I can do except tear into the top of the motor and try to find the source

Umm.........This thread is 3 years old ....... think your a little too late but like clean sc said replace valve cover gaskets and o rings .Use silicone around cam areas and creases .If problem persist take it to a mechanic.
