I was quoted $175 for installation and $100 for dyno-tuning.

I am installing myself with the help of VSCsc400, so I am paying $100 for the tuning.

Peace,
Jonny

I paid $200 shipped for the S-AFC
I did the install myself = free
Dyno tuned $120.

$320 total.

Retail prices
S-AFC = $300
Install (1 hour) = $80
Dyno Tune $120

$500 is the max you should pay for the whole thing from begining to the end.

$800-$900 is way to expensive regardless of who you go to.

I personally called up few dyno shops in Los Angeles. Most shops are btw 225 to 275 per hour and minimum is two hours. For dyno tune, you will need at least 4-5 pulls plus adjustments.

Where I work, we charge $75/hour and charge about 1-1.5 hours for an AFC for install. Then about an hour to tune it $140

I'd say it should be around $250 for a shop to install and tune + cost of AFC.

they charge $80/hour for mechanical labor

they ran my car on the dyno 5 times and they tuned it. They charged a flat rate of $120.

Those rates are crazy, insane, rip-offs. I mean sound performance is only charging $170 to tune so if someone is telling you 225 to 275 with 2 hour minimum then they are trying to rip you off. I would never call those shops ever again.

sadly i think lextreme is right about the prices around here. i'm located in socal and have checked out a couple of AEM certified tuners around here and around 200+ sounds about right.

I think you may have just found the only decent positive of Oklahoma over SoCal!!

Peace,
Jonny

If a Honda would be different. Most shop dont see Lexus and because of the rarity, they will take more time and charge more. Call up SP Engineering or Autolink. They will tell u 2 hours minimum and 200+ per hour.

Are you sure the quote is for a apexi safc and not some other engine management like an emanage or a tec3? Tuning a mostly stock motor is much different than tuning a 800 hp beast. I think the quote you got from SP is probably for a whole new base map as opposed to leaning out the af here and there.
