boostlogic sells automatic trannys that will reliably handle over 1000 rwhp, for the 2jz though

koma what do you have in your sc? also when it boils down to it in the end what would be the best choice: the 2JZ swap or just turbocharging the 1UZ?

My car is still n/a. The best choice would probably be the 2JZ swap as there is a larger aftermarket there and costs less (less custom work).

I plan on going supercharger, I have had two turbo cars and it's time for me to try supercharging. The bottom line is, either one will be a lot better than stock and no matter how fast you think you are, there is always someone faster. Its hard to beat the whine of a supercharger! Hopefully this summer I’ll have a update with real results to share.

On the other hand, the sound of a turbo spooling sounds sexy also. And a blow off valve sounds awesome too.

Since it is both very costly and difficult to supercharge and or Turbocharge an SC400, I would choose Nitros for now.... However, the Eaton superchargers have been made in Aussie land to fit under our sc hoods, but that is going to cost you some big bucks for that prefabed application.... No turbo applications that I am aware on the SC400 exist, I am sure there are but I have not seen one yet.....Alot on the LS400 which is the same motor...Maybe more under the hood space on the LS's I do not know....

In general -

Superchargers - (root style) the boost is immediate and no spool up time is required unlike exhaust driven turbo's. But the power to run the supercharger compressor is used from the engine belt drive system and is a drain on engine power....Superchargers are a bit more pricy then turbo's as well....

Turbo Chargers - Spool time and or lag is the only draw back in comparison to a supercharger.. The power to wind up the turbo is gained from the exhaust gasses so the drain on the engine is minimal in comparison to the Superchargers but no instant and immediate juice...

Nos - Power is instant and rude, but is not always available... Nos fillups over time can be costly if you ride the nos regularly...More reliable then both the upper two AFI options, and can you still run your car like stock.....the cheap sleeper solution...

Jibby:

Chrisman has developed, designed and completed a Twin Turbo application for Bob's 92 SC400. The car runs and works, and in fact has dyno'ed over 500 rwhp and over 475 ft lbs TQ. They are now working on the V160 swap. So, I beg to differ with you on the turbo application.

As well, I expect to have my turbo project completed soon as well, another TT V8. Difference being that mine will keep the all important air conditioning...

sc400tt- That Twin turbo SC400 sounds like a dream and with 500rwhp your pal better get the V160 manual Supra tranny in quick, that stock tranny won't last a day with 500rwhp passing thru it, I would love to see a picture of that TT SC400... I just have never seen a turbo'd SC400, but as you say I know they exist.... How does a TT all fit under the hood of the SC400? Limited space.....any chance you can post a pic? Pictures speak louder then words....See ya...

Ha Ha - Someone is giving it ago and I like it..., and I knew it would have to fit in the front of the engine... SC400TT You must post final results....TOO COOL!!!....and those little turbo's produces 500rwhp you say? Sick, I tell you sick!!! I looked over my SC400 and that is really the only space turbos can fit....The electric fan swap frees up some big room up front......Need more info on that turbo, please expand on any info you know. of..Awesome... Hear is a pic of the potential room you can have on an SC400 with the electric fan swap....I love it....
