Ticking noise from the rear what could it be??

Default Ticking noise from the rear what could it be??

I've been hearing this "ticking" or "clicking" noise from the rear of my SC4. I notice it only when I shift in gear and hit the gas pedal lightly. I can hear it even better if I put it in reverse. It only have like one or two click as the car starts moving then its gone. I don't hear anything as I shift gear only when I tap the gas pedal. So far driving feels normal, no power loss or wierd handling. I check the sway bar, exhuast, spring, struts, and brakes. I also see the the drive shaft brushing is alittle worn, which i'm planning to replace it in two weeks. But could this be it??? I'm soo frustrated everytime I hear this noise Anyone have more ideas?? thanks

The SC has independent rear suspension - they will be on each side of the differential protected by a rubber bellows style boot. Over time the boot will deteriorate and crack, allowing debris to contaminate the joint. When this happens slack or play develops and they begin to thunk or tick. It will also accompany a thunk when placing it in gear.

the retainer clips and springs for the handbrake shoes may be clicking on the inside of the studs. To check the rear disks will have to be removed - loosen the handbrake shoes with a screwdriver thu' slot first.

I actually had my springs for my hand brake snap and that caused a clicking sound but it was only present when the car was rolling and would obviously click faster the faster the car went. Noway in the world is that what yours is but an area to look at if your CV joints are ok.
