I got code 71 on check engine light on my 95 sc300 and it looks like I need to replace my EGR valve. Does anyone know what's the best place to buy a cheap EGR valve. Dealer wants like $200 for it. Should I buy a used one from a junk yard? What other part should I get except for the valve itself? Also, does nyone know if it is the same part for all years sc300 and sc400? Thanks in advance, guys.

ok does your car seem to run bad or idle bad at all?? if your seeing no effects then its your egr modulator.
the entire egr is completely useless dont even worry about it most ppl just block them off or take the whole thing out. mine has been bad for like over 50,000 miles. but if your cars idle is off then your actual valve is clogged and you can either clean it or just get rid of the whole thing and block it off. its not worth replacing

The only reason I am doing it is because I want to rid myself of the check engine light, if I decide to sell the car in the future. Unless someone can tell me of a way to turn of the check engine light without replacing the valve. If I replaced just the modulator, do you think the light will go away. The car is driving absolutely normal.

look at www.mkiv.com in the tutorial section i believe there is something in there about getting the check engine light to go off for the egr

or you could buy one from gazi hes a very good person to do buisness with

you can def clear the code, but you may not pass emissions. depends on what ur trying to accomplish.

Aliga, is it $60 for just egr modulator or the valve, too?

I looked on www.mkii.com, but the only tutorial I founf was on turning off the CEL on OBTII, while mine is a 95 and it OBTI. Maybe, I just couldn't find the right post. Does anyone know of a guide of how to turn off check engine light on OBTI sc300?
