dyno results after sound performance
These are the before and after results after tuning with the safc II on a stock engine. I got a 95 sc300 5 speed with 75K miles on it and nothing done to it except for espelir springs.
before: max hp = 200.31 max tq = 198.85 after: max hp = 212 max tq = 210 someones got to tell me how to insert images so I can show you the dyno sheet. I am pretty impressed with the gains. More impressed by the fact the car was making 200 hp to the wheels before the tune. Opinions? |

wow, i am also impressed to see it made 200rwhp fully stock. and a simple tuning session can yield that kind of gain. ill have to have tuning done after some bolt ons.

I have a feeling that you wouldn't have made those numbers on a DynoJet ... they seem pretty high. Congrats regardless.

hmmm so which is more accurate? Does that mean that the dyno at SP is inaccurate? In any case a 12 whp increase would be expected out of the dynojet too rite?

The increases should be the same from dyno to dyno but IIRC the Mustang dynos read about 10% low, which wouldn't make any sense in this case. That would mean a Dynojet would have read ~220 rwhp. Which is way to high unless you have a freak engine.

when it comes to dynos hp and torque results tend to vary even between the exact same type of dyno usually not much but it will vary

can you post the lo/hi map settings on the afc, and the throttle crossover points?

The 10hp/12tq gains seems very reasonable. I agree that the stock 200rwhp on a chassis dyno seems high. Mustang dynos typically read lower than Dynojet numbers...
I do not own either dyno but have heard that the operators due have the ability to vary the output by adjusting certain settings. One of these would be the correction factoring. Now, I wasn't there and don't want to accuse anyone of any certain actions BUT... This could be like "vanity sizing" where womens clothing manufactures place a size 4 tag on a garment that is actually a 6... this definitely works... I have asked and seen women buy things they aren't crazy about but "by God it's a SMALLER size!!! This could be a case of Vanity Dyno'ing... where operators know that human nature dictates that we will be happiest with the biggest numbers. If you go to one dyno and make 200hp and go to another and make 180hp chances are REAL good that you won't go back to the 180hp dyno... it is an ego thing. Now, the Mustang dyno has benefits over a Dynojet in that you can load the engine more effectively and therefore tune more effectively. But, since they do read lower... it could effect business. A savy Mustang dyno operator could adjust the reading to show higher numbers. This will not hurt anything, power is power, regardless of the number stuck on an engine. The net effect could even be better as more will go to this shop and get a better tune. Ignorance is bliss. |
I went to sound performance for their reputation and knowledge of the 2jz engines (which I heard so much about after joining club lexus) so I would expect accurate results from them. Has anyone else dynoed their stock sc300 so I could compare numbers because I was surprised too at my numbers?

lol i guess my car is just too crazy!!! Hmm.... do you know if the placement of the wideband O2 sensor would have something to do with it?
