Diagnostic code #12, no RPM signal on 1JZ swap
whats up CL. Im near the completion of my Soarer motor swap but still cant get the car to start. It is cranking just fine and now it's throwing a check engine code #12 which is Lack of RPM signal according to the Supra manuals.
I know it could be the crank sensor. How do i go about checking that? Do i check for electrical resistence so that it is getting some sort of power? how do i know if it just dead? thanx!

Could a shorted out RPM wire cause this?

It would be hard for me to believe that the car wouldn't start do to a tach signal... I've never done a 1JZ swap in a SC so I could be wrong but its my belief that the code you are getting could be false anyway due the fact that the car isn't starting.. I've had false code before.. But anyway, what is the car not getting? Fuel, Fire, or what... I would first make sure you are getting power every place you are suppose to... make sure the crank sensor has power. Make sure the fuel pump is coming on and pressuring up... Use a noid light and make sure the injectors are pulsing..9 times out of 10 the reason things like this happen is because something small is overlooked... If it is spinning over that means the lower part of the harness is prob. correct (starter, start sirnal etc..) If you still are stumped I would direct this question to the MK2 and 3 guys on Supraforums.. Alot of those people are pretty brite when it comes to the 1JZ stuff... I had a RB swap in a 240 kick my butt for about 3 days once I checked everything 100 times turns out it was simply the plugs not allowing the car to start, so leave no rock unturned check everything..
