Fuel injector mystery
I've run out of ideas so I'm posting my question here.
My car has been misfiring or running on 5 cylinders and I believe it is an injector issue. I began pulling one injector plug at a time and listening for a change in rpm, and when I pulled #2, the engine didn't change tone at all. Here's what I've done: -Pulled all injectors and had them cleaned and flow benched. All check out good. -Double checked impedance of the injector. I'm getting 14.7Ohms. Good -While car is idling rough, I tested the voltage at the pigtail connector going into the injector and I'm getting 8-9 volts. This is also present when the ignition is on but the car isn't starting. FYI this number was constant across all injectors -Changed out sparks -Tested for spark -Pulled #2 spark plug. Plug was dry and didn't smell like gas. I'm out of ideas. It could be a clog in the fuel rail but I'm doubtful since it'd be a large blockage and my fuel system was performing very well up until this point. I'll take any advice, thanks in advance |
Bump. Still stuck, still will take any help

You need a diagnosis tool capable of graphing injector pulse otherwise you're guessing. Have you tried swapping injectors around? Put another way did you install the injectors at random?

swap the coil and spark with an odd cylinder, see if it changes. I'd inspect the ignitor or ignitors, not sure if it has 1 or 2.
Lastly would consider timing or damaged valves on that cylinder. You may have lost compression in cylinder 2, since the valves may be slightly open. |
