Default Is this traffic ticket valid

(I posted this in car chat.. but I think the rules may vary from state to state so hopefully I'll get a more accurate response here.. thanks)

OK So yesterday I'm driving home and see police lights and an officer standing outside of his car with someone pulled over. As I'm passing him, hes walking back to his car and eyes me down. He ran to his car, jumped in, speeded around the car between us, and pulled me over. He asked where my front license plate was and I told him the car was originally from another state where one wasn't needed and I haven't been able to mount one yet.

I gave him my license and insurance card and he walked back to his car.

When he came back he handed me a green carbon copy of a ticket that has the following:

Infraction: Traffic [x] Non-Traffic [ ]

**All of my license info**

** All of my vehicle info **

RCW 46.16.240

NO FRONT LICENSE PLATE

Penalty $216.00

"I certify under penalty of perjury under the laws of the state of Washington that I have issued this on the date and at the location above. That I have probable cause to believe the above named person committed the above offense(s).
Officer [officer signed]"

It says I must respond to the courts below according to the reverse side.
Now I've gotten my share of tickets before.. and every time I've had to sign in order to accept the infraction served upon me.

Is this ticket still valid if none of the copies have my signature on it?

If anyone has any insight please let me know! Thanks

$216 definitely sounds pretty steep for no front license plate, my friend got one last month for $112...

when i got my speeding ticket before i didnt have to sign anything, same goes for my friends whove gotten tickets before. personally, i would contest it, doesnt hurt to fight it and especially at $216

considering how determined he was to chase you down, maybe hes trying to hit a quota

how long has your vehicle been in the state? is it registered under washington or another?

Well.. I do see this...

Altering or using altered license plates
(RCW 46.16.240) $216.00

and

Switching license plates, loan of license or use of another's
(RCW 46.16.240) $216.00

But I didn't alter a license plate or use an altered license plate, siwtch, loan, or use another's plate...

hmmmm..

I've owned the Vehicle since June of 06. :P Never had an issue before.

He was definitely trying to meet a quota and here is how I know..

As I'm sitting there eating cashew brittle he's in his car writing the ticket.. I realized I'm in front of my friend's condos and text her saying I just got a ticket in front of her condos..

I get this text 20 minutes later..

"just got a speeding ticket."

Same copper.

You can fight it non-the-less. All you have to do is show that you have mounted the license plate and have a WSP officer witness that indeed you have a front plate and get his signature and a picture of the mounted plate. And submit that to the court and then :POOF: no more ticket. I had to do this with my girlfriends car. Hope this helps.

Thats steep stefan! Id def fight it as it is a fix it ticket, if you have the other plate double side tape it and take a pic and take it in to court. If you dont have the plate go to DMV and buy one, tell them you bought the car without a plate and show them the reciept for you buying one.

Was the officer previously on the phone with his wife that just cheated on him? Sounds like he was having a crappy day. My guess is....... Bellevue, Kirkland, or Redmond? Fight that shiz!

I got a speeding ticket the other month pumpin Lil wayne with a dog in my lap. The officer didn't say anything about my plate. I see cars/trucks all the time without them. He was just being a *****.

Mark - I do have the other plate and I will "mount it" and take a pic.

The tape won't damage the paint will it?

I dont have a front plate on my car. This is just a coincidence or not.
But today at work, the maintanence guy told me that his friend just got pulled over yesterday. Got a $216 ticket. He kept on talking about it, and then told me, his friend called a friend that is a WSP officer. He told him, that I just gave out 5 today.
Its because of these stupid PHOTO COP intersections that takes your pictures. So the front and rear plate needs to be visible. Cops are gonna crack down on plate covers(clear or not), trailer hitch *****, because they block the visibility of the license plate. There gonna pull you over and possibly give you a fix it ticket.
Just my 2 cents on why I am gonna put my plate on my car.

Its just another reason for cops to harrass us. Just like the seat belt law. F^@K the PO-PO's----><----me LOL
