Brand New F-Sport NX 300 Cracked Windsheild
So what are the chances my windshield will be replaced if I have purchased the car in the past few weeks? A rock hit it, and it just splintered. There is now a 9 inch crack across my front windshield.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just call insurance and have them replace it with a factory windshield... Most insurances cover this. Very doubtful the dealer would replace the windshield for free or under warranty since it wasn't their fault. I know we go through at least a windshield a year on our cars. It only costs us $100. Just had our Mercedes windshield replaced about two months ago. New it's $500 from the factory so paying $100 was easy,.

I can't imagine that there is any chance at all that the dealer is going to be willing to give you or pay for a replacement windshield. It is no different than if you had put a scratch in the paint or had an accident shortly after buying the car. Neither the dealer nor Lexus is responsible for fixing any damage that they had nothing to do with causing.
As the others have said, most insurance policies should cover replacement windshields. Many cover windshields as a part of comprehensive coverage and some even have no deductible. If your insurance policy doesn't have windshield coverage with a minimal or no deductible, you should be shopping for different insurance.

Absolutely, thanks for all the advice. It's sad but true, and of course it's not the dealer's fault it's just life!
Have a great day!

this happened to me 1st week and I was hopeful the state I lived in mandated the program for insurance to cover broken windshields...alas it isnt. the crack hasnt grown over last 2 years, but I know one day I will have to pony up for a new windshield. maybe the price will come down from what safelite quoted me 2 years ago which was alot more than the 250 a windshield in the past has cost me.

So as an update I was about to get a hold of my insurance carrier who contacted who was in the network. I advised them I had to use Lexus Official Parts and given that the car is brand new there are no generics available anyways apparently. That said it's at the Lexus Dealer right now and will likely be repaired there or taken to the repair facility I am instructed by my Insurance carrier.
I wonder, however, do you think that the dealer MUST do the calibrations? When I went to Lexus they quoted me $2700 to fix it, $1600 for the windshield, $500 for calibration and $600 for labor or thereabouts.
Man, I just ponied up 70k at least it's just the $139.00 deductible

When a 2X4 from a truck ahead of me broke my windshield while we were traveling at 70 mph, I took the car to my Lexus dealer.
The dealer provided the OEM windshield, but farmed-out the work to a local glass replacement business.
Insurance covered all but the $100 deductible, but the dealer wrote me a check to cover the $100 because they "appreciate my repeat business," and wanted to keep my as a "valued customer."
Before you ask, I didn't try to chase down the truck...confrontations on highways rarely turn out good regardless who might be at fault.

Just had mine replaced about a month ago - dealer contracted someone to come out and replace it - factory glass, install, mouldings and calibration ended up to be $1200. Geico gave me a ton of hassle (still giving me hassle) as they wanted me to go through their network but I insisted on OEM glass and they said I had to be reimbursed which would take longer. Repair was approved but a month later, still waiting for the damn check.

we all know insurance companies get raped in costs when they approve claims. my nephew's ducati tipped over and was totaled out by insurance so bought him a brand new ducati...for my 17 nx the dealer wanted 700 installed if I recall correct. and if insurance was used, like 400...but I have 500 deductable lol.
