Default checking out a CPO

Hi All,

I'm moving onto my next Lexus which I think will be this CPO NX200T with 21k miles on it. Reviewing the service records, I saw that the last dealer oil change was at 6600 miles. I've owned 4 turbos and i know they want clean oil! I know the interval is 10k synthetic and they might have done the service elsewhere (off-lease so i doubt it). What do you guys think, should I be concerned?

Cheers,
Joe

I am going to do a walk through and pull the dipstick and all that, I do quite a bit of wrenching and know my way under the hood. I'm concerned with the state the engine could possibly be in on the off chance that the oil was not changed for 15k miles (5k over the service interval). That's the reason for my post.

Cheers,

Why was the oil changed at 6600 doesn’t make sense when it’s done for free at 10k?

The 5k was done at less than 4k, the 10k was done at 6600. That's what the Lexus site says. Then it looks like it was turned in October of 2018 and was sitting there getting the 15k + 20k service and refitted for CPO. The resurfaced rotors and replaced 2 tires and a couple bulletins/campaigns. That's the extent of the service history. Car looks new now. The dealer says after the free service the PO probably had the oil changed elsewhere. I'm trying to figure the worst case scenario if they didn't do any oil change for 2 years (?)

Without doing a full indy ppi where you would want to tear down the motor, do some UOA/VOA analysis there is nothing you can do nor someone tell you, but just believe in Toyota Engineering (lol).

Its a used vehicle, nothing else matters, even the CPO stamp. As such you follow the same protocol when buying used; If you are unable to find the last oil changes, either via Lexus owners hub, and it really would bother me, Id then just find a different car with adequate service history.

Service History and PPI (independent of BS multipoint) Top key deciding factors.
