Default Where is Homelink?

I just leased a new Lexus NX 300 2019 (base model). Much to my surprise, the mirror doesn't have Homelink buttons to operate the garage door. The sales rep at the dealership mentioned that Homelink requires a package (Comfort?) but I can't find this option in any of the NX packages. Why doesn't NX include Homelink in the base model? My 20-year old Honda has Homelink buttons.

I feel your pain - when we bought our 2017 base NX, I also could not believe it was not standard and required an expensive package. I was able to to add it by purchasing a mirror ($159) with homelink- the wiring is already there and it took about 10 minutes to install.

That’s how luxury cars work. BMW and Audi are even worse. You have to do your homework first.

The NX has a few packages and several different options. My local dealer doesn’t even have base models. You’d have to special order one.

The mirror with Homelink is a $125 option. As far as I know it doesn’t require a package.
See the 3rd item from my window sticker.

Now days, have to really watch what you get when buying cars. A lot of expected items, expected for a Lexus, are really options, that are added to the base cost. My NX has over $7,000 of options added to the base price, but this was necessary to get the car that I wanted. A Lexus with no options, is not much more than a Toyota, which is why there are very few base Lexus cars out there! And I hate the Lexus "packages" where you are sometimes forced to buy other options not really wanted just to get one your want. But we all know these options are where car manufactures really make a great deal of their profit.

Thanks for all the replies. The issue is that the electrochromic mirror is not even enumerated in any of the packages and this where the confusion is. My understanding is that there is a base model and there are packages on top of that. But it looks like Lexus bundles cars any way they want. Since the cars are manufactured in Japan, you're really stuck with what the dealer has on inventory unless you want to wait for the special order from Japan. So, I really didn't know what to look for. Should I look for 4 wheels the next time in case Lexus bundles three? On the positive side, my NX has Apple Carplay as it was produced after 10/18 For some obscure reason, it also has a back door kick sensor. Would love to know why the kick sensor is more important than Homelink.

Does anyone know if the $125 mirror can be DIY install or I need to ask the dealer to install?

I have what I think is "base" and it has Homelink. Donno. All I am missing is radar and auto high beams, but do they even offer AHB on NX?
OP, USUALLY any car made has same harness across the trims. It is simply feasible to do so. Then, they tape out unused plugs. It is HIGHLY likely that vehicle you looking at has plug for Homelinked mirror. Far I know, Homelink is safe contained module inside the mirror and is powered from common mirror plug. You disconnect one you have, plug new one in, et voila... Does this answer your $125 mirror question? Should be about 15 min job.

Then you turned around and buy something else, you know. Lexus is not the only "luxury" vehicle sold. There are other makes that generously, I mean - generously - shower their vehicles with all kinds of features, as is. Honda and Koreans come to mind... To be honest, Tahoe will outlast Lexus and is packed with wallop of features.

I would do a search for Homelink on this site. I bet it’s an easy swap out.

I don't think I've ever seen a car at my Lexus dealer without homelink. Not that it's a standard feature but doubt that the dealer would order one for stack without it.
